Lexie has become an essential tool in many speech therapy practices. We spoke with speech therapist Laura Knezović (Speech Therapy Practice "Logoratio") who shared how Lexie saves her time when preparing therapy materials.

Lexie brought many new possibilities to my therapy work — especially with children who struggle with reading, such as those with dyslexia. It's incredibly helpful when adapting texts for reading on tablets, laptops, or even printed formats.

With Lexie, children can choose their own text customization tools — some like the Focus feature that reduces visual distractions, others prefer syllable separation when working on reading fluency.

One of the most useful features is the ability to upload your own texts in PDF or Word format. As a therapist, I often use readers and school texts that are not adapted for children with reading disorders — fonts can be hard to read, lines too dense, and formatting unsuitable.

I always use the fonts Lexie provides when uploading such texts. Sometimes the children choose the font themselves. We then increase line and letter spacing, which makes the text much easier to process. The result is a cleaner, more inviting layout. This way, Lexie gives me unlimited material to use for reading technique practice and reading comprehension checks.

Lexie also includes school reading lists. Kids don’t have to worry about borrowing books or struggling with difficult fonts. I, as a therapist, can observe how they manage school content and track progress across different text levels. And best of all — all adapted texts can be printed and taken home for practice.

Compared to the time before Lexie, preparation time has significantly decreased. I used to spend hours retyping texts in Word and adjusting font and layout manually. Now Lexie handles all that automatically.

All fonts in the app are designed for easier reading, and features like bold text, focus, and spacing allow me to further personalize material for each child.

Lexie is definitely a favorite among the kids! I'm not sure who likes it more — them or me! :) They’re excited when they arrive and ask if we’ll be using the tablet today. Working with Lexie feels like play, and that makes them more motivated. Even though screens are everywhere nowadays, here they become a powerful educational tool that supports personalized reading.

Lexie also encourages interaction — children read aloud and discuss the text with me, and I gain valuable insight into their understanding and progress.

Most importantly, Lexie gives children a break from overwhelming printed texts filled with various fonts and layouts that can cause anxiety. Here, they find readable, structured content that supports line tracking, grapheme recognition, and boosts their confidence in reading.

 I’d recommend Lexie to every speech therapist, teacher, and parent. Its customization options reduce stress for children and make reading practice more accessible for everyone involved.
