Through Research To The Joy of Reading

We base our tools on researches into dyslexia, techniques and tools for facilitating reading skills. In this way we improve the comprehension of the read material and we create the most enjoyable reading experience.

TOOL TESTING AND REVIEWS

In order to better understand the potential of our solutions, we keep asking experts and people with reading difficulties - How much and how do our tools help them? Here are some answers:

HUGE ASSET FOR DIGITALLY ORIENTED DYSLEXICS, Owen Kowalski, The Life Dyslexic

Being a very paper-based analogue dyslexic reader, I have often struggled with reading books on tablets or kindles. I therefore approached the Omoguru Reader with a mix of skepticism, intrigued and hope that it might make a difference.

First up, I found the app very simple, straightforward and intuitive to use, with a large library of books to choose from.

WELL-DEVELOPED APP THEY SHOULD USE TO SUPPORT STUDENTS, Ciaran, Head of SEN Primary and Secondary School

The children continued to use the app for various tasks during the trial. After that, teachers gave overwhelmingly positive feedback. Their Education Psychologist and assistant also felt Omoguru was a well-developed app they should use to support students.

SYLLABICATION LEADS TO A FLUENT READING

automatic syllabication service
Syllabication is an important step towards automated reading. Children with reading difficulties have problems especially with long words; they have hard time reading them. A text with distinctive syllables is easier to read and understand.

UNDERSTAND READING DIFFICULTIES THANKS TO THE EYE-TRACKING

eye tracker technology research
The eye-tracking method is considered to be one of the best for studying the way the reader processes text. In cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, we developed a prototype which using the eye-tracking device detects reading difficulties, and offers tools to improve reading techniques and to measure reading progress.

PATENTED DESIGN OF THE OMOTYPE FONT SYSTEM

OmoType_patent_font_system
The OmoType font system is hand designed and it contains all the essential characteristics to facilitate reading. Created with dyslexics in mind, it facilitates the recognition of letters and words to everyone. The design of the OmoType font system is patented in the EU and the USA.

A UNIQUE FRAMEWORK FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF DYSLEXIA

early dyslexia detection framework
Dyslexia Compass is an Erasmus + project through which we analyze different ways of assessing dyslexia in the EU with partners from England, Spain, Norway and Romania. The goal of the project is to create a unique framework for the diagnosis of dyslexia.

DEVELOPMENT AND CONFIRMATION OF THE MOST READABLE FONT SYSTEM

During the development of the OmoType font, two studies were conducted - a comparative study and a study with an eye-tracking device. Texts written in OmoType are more legible to children with reading difficulties. They read them faster with less mistakes. These results indicate a better understanding of the text and a more enjoyable reading experience.

I love it! Thank you so much; what a difference this font makes!!!!
- Amy
I have downloaded OmoType for a student with dyslexia and dysgraphia. The student had better results in text comprehension and written tests; he as well tells us it is much easier for him to read. Thanks!

RESEARCH AS A FOUNDATION FOR TOOLS DEVELOPMENT AND TEXT FORMATTING

READING ON MOBILE DEVICES

Shorter lines of text on mobile devices improves reading speed in dyslexics. Also, the possibility of individual text configuration aids in reading.

BACKGROUND COLORS

Using warm background colors (like peach, orange, and yellow) have an impact on readability on screen for people with and without dyslexia.

CROWDED LETTERS

Manipulation with a letter and line spacing in text help dyslexics to read faster with fewer errors and enhances reading comprehension.

FONT

Font types have a significant impact on reading performance for dyslexics. Careful selection of the font helps with the readability of the text.

REVERSE INCLUSION

Recent research shows that settings that make reading easier for dyslexics make it easier for all readers.

MENTAL ROTATION OF LETTERS

Some dyslexics have problems with letters with the same shapes but different orientations. For some, this problem persists into adulthood.

ASSISTIVE TECH FOR READING

An empowering aid that minimizes stigmatizationincreases self-confidencemotivation for reading, and promotes independence.

A great tool that discovered a world of books to my child. Read easier, she’s less frustrated and has more desire to read (learn) :)
- Ivana
Omoguru has made our life so much better. My daughter reads with no breaks, when she gets tired of reading one font she adjusts to what she finds most suitable. Love to see her reading with a smile and no frustrations. Thank you so much!!!!!
