If you’re a speech therapist, you know the drill — you’ve got a great text for developing reading skills, but it needs to be tailored for each child individually.
For one child, you break words into syllables and highlight them in different colors. Another needs the letter B marked because they confuse it with D. And a third reads better when the text has a peach-colored background. You end up spending a lot of time on just one of the many activities you need to prepare for the day!
Ana Petanjek and Edna Emkić, speech therapists at the Jezičak practice, found a way to cut their material prep time in half.
They switched from preparing exercises in Word to using Lexie, where they created their own virtual library of therapy materials. Lexie automatically adapts these for easier reading — breaking words into syllables, marking mirrored letters, and sometimes even reading out loud!
Like many other therapists, Ana and Edna adapt school content for the children they work with. In the past, they used to type everything out manually. Now, they simply take a photo of a lesson and let Lexie do the work.
The time and energy saved now go directly into hands-on therapy. What makes them happiest is that the children love Lexie and respond to the app positively!
“The only thing I regret is not having Lexie sooner,” says Ana.
